Myler Stainless Steel 3 3/4" Dee with Hooks, MB 36 Mullen Forward Tilt Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3

The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is 1" high, and tilted forward at a 45º angle, allowing just enough room for the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip but also applies tongue pressure because of the forward tilt.

  • Independent Side Movement
  • Stainless Steel mouthpiece
  • Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips or bars
  • Copper Inlay

**Due to the contagious nature of the equine disease EHV 1 and per biosecurity measure guidelines suggested by the American Association of Equine Practitioners, The Farm House will no longer accept any returns on bits or bit accessories.**

Notes: The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the dee without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheekpieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.

Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when the rein is fixed on the rein hook.

Discipline: Primarily English

Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used
