Traditional, square design and optimized for general purpose, dressage, and show jumping styles: you’ll love our numnahs, not only for their super premium quality lambskin, but also for their hard-wearing quilted fabric or velvet, and the clever SADDLE-FIX®, CORRECTION®, and SPINEFREE® systems.
The MATTES Square numnah is available in general purpose, dressage, and show jumping styles in sizes S, M, L, and XL. You are free to choose the design of the outer side: without lambskin padding, with lambskin padding and trim at the front, with lambskin padding and trim at the back, and with lambskin padding and trim at the front and back. The underside of the numnah can either have no lambskin, a full lambskin lining, a top-quality lambskin lining beneath the saddle area, or a crescent or specially shaped section of lambskin. The lambskin is available in more than 30 different colors. Good to know: Its ability to regulate temperature and absorb huge amounts of sweat makes lambskin equally perfect for summer or winter use.
If you really want to turn heads, choose the optional embroidered MATTES logo free of charge, or your own logo or text on one or both sides (ask us for a quote). Text prices can be found in the Configurator. The top band, binding, and up to three rows of decorative piping are available in almost 50 colors. The optional Velcro keepers on the sides come in more than a dozen different shades, or as our PM system. The numnah is also available with the MER exercise sheet system, for easy and secure attachment to our MER exercise sheets.
MATTES uses high-quality cotton/polyester blend quilted fabric. The numnah can also be made in hard-wearing velvet on request; special lustrous fibers are woven into the fabric to give a striking look, while the thick layer of padding makes the quilted pattern really stand out. Both quilted fabric and velvet are available in a wide range of colors - you can design your pad yourself.
Our SPINEFREE® design reliably prevents any pressure around the withers and spine. The secure SADDLE-FIX® system allows the top seam of the numnah to be attached comfortably in the gullet of the saddle.
The core of the numnah is made of two layers: POLY-FLEX® (a deep-needled polyester felt) is used to maintain the shape and spread the pressure, while polyester wadding provides padding. We completely avoid foam, neoprene, or gel, making the whole pad breathable.
The numnah is available with the CORRECTION® System on request, with a choice of one or two pockets; we supply three 5 mm-thick felt shims (POLY-FLEX®) for each pocket, offering the same pressure relief as a good-quality new saddle, padded with wool and horsehair. MATTES developed the CORRECTION® System to allow flexible and easy changes to saddle fit by up to 30 mm: to easily compensate for the rapid physical development of young horses in training, for horses that have been out of work for some time, or for trained horses that change shape a lot during the competition season, whenever quick alterations are needed. Simply add extra shims, or just as importantly, remove them, to suit the horse’s changing shape. It is crucial to balance out long-term irregularities in conformation. These should never be corrected by adjusting the saddle itself!

Return Policy
-You may return most new, unused & unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Items must be returned to us in new condition, which includes the product's original packaging. Custom pieces, treats, oral supplements & bits are not refundable.
-A 15% restocking / open box fee will apply to all products returned with damaged or defaced manufacturer packaging. To avoid this fee, please put all returns or exchanges in appropriate packing materials such as a separate box or shipping bag. Items returned to us with shipping labels, tape, hand writing on the manufacturer's box will be automatically subject to the 15% open box / restocking fee.
-Items qualifying for free shipping which are returned will have shipping costs deducted from the refund.
-Shipping charges are non-refundable.
-Items purchased from our Sale Room, or our Online Auction Site are ineligible for refunds.
-Sales are final on all custom items.
-Refunds may take up to 30 business days after your return has been received to be processed.
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply fill out the return paperwork sent with your purchase and ship it back to us with your contact information. If you are returning a high value item, we recommend insuring your package. to your account. Can't locate the return paperwork? No problem, simply email [email protected], we will happily email you a copy. If you have an online account with us, you can also begin the return process from within your online order. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
Shipping
We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations. You can choose from FedEx or USPS. Please note the cut off to ship
orders via expedited services is 12:00 P.M. EST.
When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. Depending on the shipping provider you choose, shipping date estimates may appear on the shipping quotes page.
Please also note that the shipping rates for many items we sell are weight-based. The weight of any such item can be found on its detail page. To reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use, all weights will be rounded up to the next full pound.
