8 Ideas for the Ultimate Barn Besties Galentine's Day

Farm House

This Valentine’s Day (and pretty much every other day), we are celebrating our love of all things equestrian. After all, we did say horses come before significant others. But, this isn’t a human-free holiday- we want to celebrate you AND your Barn Besties! So instead of candy hearts or a stuffed teddy bear, we thought we’d put together the ultimate list of Galentine’s Day activities for you and your Barn Bestie.

#1 Have a horse-themed movie marathon

If you and your barn besties are more of the stay home in your heart-patterned PJs types, we highly recommend a horse-themed movie night. Personally, this is how I spent some of my very favorite Valentine’s Days! Grab a big bowl of popcorn, chocolate, and gummi candy and pop on one of our Top 25 Favorite Horse Movies To Stream. For an extra fun touch, serve themed snacks like Sea Biscuits.

#2 Have a dance party

Along the same lines, why not stay in and have a dance party? Put on your favorite sparkly outfits and crank up our Barn Party playlist for a night full of horse-themed songs that’ll make you want to gallop around the whole room. This is also the perfect way to make any Valentine’s Day chores you may have a little more fun.

#3 Make homemade horse treats

It’s so important for equestrians to bond with their horses, and one of the best ways to do that is through their belly! If you really want to up your game and enhance your bond, a great way to spoil horses is by making homemade treats for them. Mix it up a bit (pun intended) with some of our favorite homemade horse treats and try one of our 5 favorite horse treat recipes.

#4 Decorate your horse’s stall

We love seeing people decorate their horse’s stall for Christmas, so why not for Valentine’s Day? Show your horse a little love with hearts and photos of their favorite sweet treats. Or pick a favorite photo of you and your horse together and display it in an equestrian-themed frame! For the finishing touch, grab your horse a new stall toy to keep them entertained while they enjoy their decor.

#5 Have a photoshoot with your horses

A Galentine’s event is one of my favorite excuses to get dressed up. Gather your Barn Besties and don your finest show gear to take this day to do a photoshoot with your horses! It can be far too chaotic to get a good photo on show day, so now’s the perfect time to have your friends take photos of you and your horse looking your best. And don’t forget to sneak in some photos with pink saddle pads and treats to celebrate the theme. Then, grab all your besties for a group photo!

#6 Go to a riding clinic together

Take a look for a special training event or clinic for you and your friends to train together. You know what they say, those who do flatwork together, stay together! A clinic is a great opportunity to focus on a specific skill that you may not have time for during your usual lessons. It can also be helpful to get riding advice from a new perspective. Whatever type of clinic you choose, we think you’ll be filled with extra love and gratitude for your horse and friends by the end. Find a trainer you look up to and see if they’re offering any clinics and get yourself signed up!

#7 Go on a trail ride

Another super fun way to ride around with your barn besties on V-Day is to go out on a trail ride together. Trail riding is not something we always have time to do in all the chaos of our training and showing schedules, but it’s a great way to enjoy some more chill time with our horses and friends. If you happen to be hitting the trail near one of our locations, we’ve got a list for some of our favorite trails

#8 Shop for equestrian gifts together

And of course, there’s no better way to treat yourselves and your barn besties than with a trip to your favorite tack store! Turn it into an extra fun outing with a challenge to find your friends the perfect gift. Everyone should pick a name, then set a timer to find the perfect gift under a set budget. Everyone will get something fun at the end! And don’t worry, we’ve got loads of pink gear and clothes so you can dress in theme.

Whatever way you celebrate, we hope that this Valentine’s Day is full of sweet treats and happy hoof beats. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more holiday ideas all year long!
