This Multi-Directional Impact Protection System is a newer technology that’s starting to get more attention. It’s still not widely used, but we’re seeing more brands include it in their offerings, and the trend will likely continue.
A neurosurgeon designed MIPS to protect the brain from angled impacts to the head that cause rotational motion. It’s not a safety measure currently required by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). However, we do think this additional safety feature may become standard in the future.
