The Trust Waterford olive head bit is a standard side bit combined with the special Waterford mouthpiece. The mouthpiece consists of several free-moving, rounded links, which do not allow the horse to lie on the bit. The recognizable blue color is the so-called Sweet Iron coating. This coating oxidizes on contact with moisture and forms surface rust. This rust tastes sweet to horses and they accept the bit better and are more likely to start foaming and chewing. With the olive head side piece, the rings cannot move independently of each other, so the bit lies particularly quietly and stably in the horse's mouth. In addition, pinching of the sensitive corners of the mouth is not possible with the correct position. The rider's aids are conveyed directly with this combination of olive head and Waterford. With the Waterford mouthpiece, it should be noted that it can act very sharply with a strong hand.
Note:When not in use, a thin orange-brown layer of rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
