Trust Sweet Iron Hackamore Combination Short French Link

We love this bit because it helps control stronger horses without resorting to a harsher mouthpiece. A great addition to a trainer's bit box!

This jaw piece is a combination of a hackamore with a bit. The hackamore combination is a jaw piece with leverage and gives pressure on the nose, chin, and mouth. The longer the shanks of the hackamore, the stronger the effect. This combination with short shanks has a less sharp effect than the long hackamore combination. These bits are often used with very enthusiastic horses in the course.

Due to the leverage, this is a fairly sharp bit and therefore not suitable for inexperienced riders.

The french link mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat insert that exerts equal pressure on the tongue. This mouthpiece has two pivot points, is shaped more to the mouth, and is a bit looser in the mouth.

The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse's saliva production naturally. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to brown-gray.

*Due to the contagious nature of the equine disease EHV 1 and per biosecurity measure guidelines suggested by the American Association of Equine Practitioners, The Farm House will no longer accept returns on bits and bit accessories.
