English Saddle Pads to Provide Comfort for Your Horse
Your horse’s back needs to be protected from saddle-generated friction and the impact caused as you ride the horse. Today’s technology has resulted in a wide array of saddle pads with myriad benefits. Moisture-wicking saddles pull perspiration away from the horse to prevent overheating. Gel saddle pads absorb shock. And anti-slip materials help keep the saddle in place. Additionally, there are pads made specifically for the requirements of various riding disciplines, including dressage and jumping. Half-pads, which fit under the saddle’s panels, are sometimes used in addition to a standard pad to provide additional protection against impact or to improve the fit of the saddle.
The size and thickness of the pad you need will depend on how well the saddle fits without the pad. A too-thick pad for a saddle without room to accommodate it will create pressure points.
Having trouble deciding what type of saddle pad you need? Give us a call at 864-457-3557. We’re happy to help. Our shop’s team is made up of experienced English riders who have a thorough understanding of proper sizing and the products we carry.
