Barbour Size, Fit, and Style Guide

Barbour Size, Fit, and Style Guide

Experienced equestrians understand the importance of clothing that’s designed specifically for the sport. Features like comfort, durability, and freedom of movement have a big impact on the quality of your ride. For this reason, many riders seek out brands that offer thoughtfully-designed clothing made from high-quality materials. Barbour is one of those brands, and it’s a favorite here at The Farm House. When you buy a Barbour piece, you know you’re investing in something well-made that will last.

Why Choose Barbour?

Barbour is a brand synonymous with quality. Their waterproof jackets have a timeless look, and thanks to their high-quality materials, you can enjoy wearing their pieces season after season. Barbour is a brand that does not go out of style.

A Litte About Barbour’s History

The Barbour story began in 1894 with J. Barbour & Sons in a small town in the UK. The company is now run by the fifth generation of the Barbour family, who continue to show the same drive and passion that ignited Barbour as a brand over 125 years ago. Products are now sourced around the world, though Barbour still maintains their headquarters near where they began. Such consistency, passion, respect for history, and the unique values of the British countryside make this brand stand out among the rest. As they say on their website, Barbour “brings the qualities of wit, grit, and glamour to its beautifully functional clothing.”

Today, Barbour sells in retail shops in over 55 countries, including the United States. They have expanded on their brand, broadening from their original countrywear roots into a full lifestyle wardrobe. However, they are best known for some of their originals, which include jackets, coats, and shirts. Always holding onto their core values, they’re committed to creating products that earlier generations would remain proud of. This is a brand that is ever-evolving yet holding on strongly to the roots that established them generations ago.

Barbour Fit Guide

One thing you’ll notice about Barbour is that their clothing tends to run a bit small. They did recently redo all of the Barbour size guides to include conversions to US sizing, which has been a big help. But we still find that they tend to run small. So, if you check the sizing charts and you’re not quite sure which size to get, it’s a good idea to go up a size. You’ll probably find it’s a better fit, particularly if you’re layering.
